Welcome to my Film Portfolio.
Here you can find some of my cinematic expressions, film photographs, art and films I've participated in. Each section is accompanied by context and relevance to my application.
DIRECTED BY LALA ALAKBAR
In 2025, during a film residency, Caucasus Cinema, I worked with 30 filmmakers from around the world on various film sets as a cinematographer, producer, sound mixer, and script assistant. I also directed my first films.
The Red Sash, my first film, portrays one morning in the adolescence of three siblings — the same tradition carried with different weight.
To Find a Story is a short film about a young girl searching for a story powerful enough to soften her parents’ hearts and shift their decision.
The third film, Caucasian Jazz, explores unity through music, revealing how it can make languages understandable.
These works remain raw and amateur — both technically and in the delivery of ideas — and I am actively working to grow beyond these limits.
Assistant Director on Sanki Yoxsan (2024) and The Red Color of the Second Planet (2022)
My role consisted of managing on-set operations and bridging creative vision with technical execution. I was also involved in script development and contributed to producing. Sanki Yoxsan, a film about youth, love and pitfalls of local mentality, 2024 Cannes Film Festival nominee. İkinci Planetin Qırmızı rəngi (The Red Color of the Second Planet), premiered at Tampere International Film Festival, portrays resilience and liberation.

FILM PHOTOGRAPHY
My passion for visual storytelling yet mirrors to film photography, in which I utilize 35mm cameras to capture images that evoke feeling, presence, and the intimate relationships between the human and natural worlds. This practice strengthen my cinematic perspective, allowing me to explore composition, light, and emotion in a single frame, thereby enriching my narrative lens.
VISUAL ART
Sometimes I sketch, sometimes I work with oil, gouache, or mixed media. I strive to translate abstract concepts into tangible visual images, and I also improve in graphics and digital. Illustrating also helps me in writing when I need to visualize stories, and of course there are many storyboards for advertising that I do not consider part of my creative portfolio.
In 2017, I founded 994FM, a poetry YouTube and radio channel that connects underrated and beloved poets with audiences. Surprisingly, it has had much more success and popularity than I ever expected. By intertwining classic and contemporary works, such as Eyyub Yaqubov’s (famous Azerbaijani singer) interpretation of Gecə Düşüncəsi from Mikayil Mushvig, we have created a truly beautiful platform that connects generations and celebrates heritage.

At Debüt Film Studios, I had several roles including international relations, educational programs management, media relations, and content production/co-editing. Yes, the team was small, only 11 people. Although the studio's tenure ended in 2022, it produced 11 shorts, 4 features, 4 educational and 3 entertainment programs, as well as a few edits such as RETROMIX and SUPERMIX, blending old movies and contemporary music. These are some of the ones I created.
