SANKI YOXSAN
a film by Azer Guliev (2024)

THE VISION
As first assistant director (AD) for the Sanki Yoxsan film, I aimed to bring Azer Guliev’s vision of a powerful, emotional narrative to life. When Samir and Leyla decide to flee their families’ discord, Samir suddenly disappears. Leyla’s quest ensnares her, entwining her fate with his mysterious disappearance, becoming part of the mystery herself. This film, which explores the themes of love, disappearance, and the mysteries of human connection, was crafted to highlight the complexity and depth of Azerbaijani cinema on the international stage.
THE BREAKTHROUGH
The film’s selections for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and the Sarajevo Film Festival marked a significant milestone, reflecting its global resonance and cinematic impact. With captivating performances and a narrative that intertwines past and present, Sanki Yoxsan garners critical acclaim, further establishing Azerbaijan’s presence in world cinema while continuing my dedication to promoting emerging talent and authentic storytelling.
